The South Burlington School District, located in South Burlington, Vermont, invites applications from dynamic, experienced, and visionary leaders for the position of Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2026.
The district serves 2,500 students in its three K-5 schools, one 6-8 middle school, and a single 9-12 High School, and operates under the Policy Governance model with an annual budget of $72 million.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Board seeks a student-centered, collaborative, and relationship-driven leader with superior leadership and communication skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Strong budget management and fiscal leadership skills
Proven success as an educational leader and problem solver
The ability to foster trust and transparency with the community, families, and staff
An understanding of, or willingness to train in, the Policy Governance model
A commitment to equity, inclusion, and student well-being
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
Vermont superintendent license, or eligibility for licensure by start date
Advanced degree in educational leadership, administration, or related field
A minimum of ten years successful, relevant leadership experience (superintendent, director or principal level)
Work experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent
Large (500+) school principal experience and classroom teacher experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of education law, curriculum, instruction, and school finance
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
POSITION DETAILS:
Type: Full Time - Permanent
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 annual salary. Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications
