Every 10 years, SBHS invites an organization called the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEAS&C) to evaluate and accredit our school. On September 30 and October 1, 2, and 3, a team of 16 educators from Vermont and New Hampshire visited to experience what it’s like to attend as a student, to work as a teacher, to lead as a principal, and to participate as a parent/guardian or community member.
While at SBHS the visiting team spent time at our school, they are looking for evidence that our school “lives” the SBHS core values and beliefs of equity, responsibility, individuality, community, tenacity, opportunity, and community.
For over a year the school community has been involved in preparing the SBHS Self-Study. This is an extensive document that demonstrates the ways in which our school is meeting (or not meeting) the Standards for Accreditation.
The educators who visited our school will be using the self-study and their visit to give us recommendations and commendations.
Families and community members may view the self-study online now and once finalized and adopted by NEASC’s New England Commission on Public Secondary Schools the final report will be made public and shared via multiple means. We are looking forward to hearing back from the Commission later this school year.
