Jasen Boyd '90
Cross Country, Nordic Skiing, Track & Field- 3 sport athlete, earning 11 Varsity letters
- Most Valuable Runner all 4 years & team captain 2 seasons
- Won the Division I State Title, 2nd in VT State Meet and competed in New England Championsips
- In Nordic, qualified for both New England and Eastern Championships
- Named Most Valuable Skiier as a senior
- Qualified all 4 years for the State Championship in the 3000 meter and 1500 meter events in Track & Field, finishing runner-up in the 3000 State Championship
- Jasen went on to compete in Cross Country and Track & Field at University of Arkansas and Norwich University where he later became a Coach
Sheila Burleigh - Coach 1973-2016
Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball- Sheila officially retired from coaching at SBHS in 2016 after 42 years.
- Sheila coached Field Hockey from 73-88 reaching 9 Final fours and winning 2 VT State Championships.
- But... for Burls it was all about Basketball with 597 wins, 10 Metro Division Titles, 20 Final Fours, and 5 State Championships
- Sheila's recognitions include: Coach of the Year, Russell Athletic/Women's Basketball Coaches' Association National High School Coach of the year in 2010, member of 5 Hall of Fames
- Sheila has been a Physical Education teacher at SBHS since 1973 and received the Excellence in Education Award in 2015
- In 2017, the SBHS Athletic Department and Administration named the SBHS basketball court after Sheila, now known as the "Sheila Burleigh Court"
Brennan Carney '00
Football, Basketball, Baseball
- 3 sport stand-out earning 8 Varsity letters, named captain in all 3 sports
- In football, won 2 State Championships, starting both offense and defense
- Set a record for career touchdown passes (48) and passing yards
- Named BFP 1st team defense and 2nd team offense in 1999
- Named to the VT Shrine team
- In basketball, named teams' Defensive MVP
- In baseball, earned All-State Honoroable Mention recognition both junior and senior years
- Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete of his class
- Brennan went on to compete in football at Weslyan University where he started at quarterback for 4 full seasons
- Brennan recently retired as the Head Football coach at Burlington High School where he had coached for 10 years
Lee "Chip" Esckilsen '76
Soccer, Hockey, Golf, Track & Field- 4 sport Varsity athlete, starting as a freshman in Soccer, Ice Hockey and Track & Field
- Member of State Championship team in Soccer sophomore year
- Named 1st team All-State and represented VT in the Twin State Soccer Cup
- As a defender on the Ice Hockey team, named 2nd team All-State team
- In track, competed in 110 and 180 hurdles and was part of the State Chamionship team in 1975
- Competed in New England Track Meet junior year
- Senior year Lee transitioned to the Golf team due to an injury
- Recipient of the Special Athletic Council Award at SBHS Athletic awards
- Lee went on to play Soccer, Golf and Tennis at Dean College
Barbara S. Fitterer '82
Soccer, Basketball, Softball- 3 sport Varsity athlete, with a natural instinct for competition
- In soccer, leading scorer, named 1st team Division I and was selected to the VT All-Star team
- In Basketball, was a contributor to 2 State Championship teams in her junior and senior years
- Selected to the All North 2nd team as a junior. and 1st team as a senior
- Named to the Alhambra All-Star team
- Named by the National High School Coaches Association as Girls Basketball All-American in 1982
- In softball, Barb pitched, played shortstop, 2nd base and 3rd base and was a powerful hitter, her softball career was cut short in her senior year due to injury
- Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Female Athlete of her class
Robert "Bob" LaBerge '75
Football, Basketball, Baseball- Varsity althete excelling in Football and Baseball
- In Football, member of the 1974 undefeated State Championship team
- Named All-North Div II 1st and 2nd team on defense and offense while garnering All-State honors as a defensive back in his senior year
- Skilled player in Baseball, where he played 4 years as a shortstop
- Bob batted over .410 and was 5th leading hitter in the NIAC
- Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete of his class
- After graduating from SB, Bob coached football and baseball at SBHS
- Bob went on to play football at the University of Maine
Deanna "DeeDee" Leonard Sivret '89
Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball
- 3 sport athlete at SB, captained all 3 of her sports
- Defensive MVP and named to the Metro All-Star team in Field Hockey
- Lead her team to two Division 1 Semifinals
- Named Defensive MVP in Basketball, team played in the State Finals and was selected to the VT Alhambra All-Star team where she was named captain
- In Softball, she was named team MVP and selected 2nd team All-league
- Named Who's Who in American High School sports in 1988-89.
- Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Female Athlete of his class
- Class of 1989 Salutatorian
Peter James Leonard '75
Football, Basketball, Baseball- 3 sport Varsity athlete with great athleticism
- In Football, described as one the the best lineman to have "every played at SB"
- Key participate on the 1974 State Championship team
- Named 1st Offense and Defense All-State teams and chosen as All-State Honorary Captain
- Selected to the Vermont Shrine team, named Co-Captain
- In Basketball, played 4 years, lettering for 2 and was a member of the 73-74 team that went on to tthe finals played at UVM Patrick Gymnasium
- In Baseball, Peter joined the team as a "lefty" in the bullpen
- Peter went on to play football at the University of Maine
Judy Schlemmer Alyward '87
Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball, Track & Field- 4 sport athlete, intensity personified with a great work ethic
- In Field Hockey, played 3 years Varsity and help lead her team to 2 State Championships
- In Basketball, 3 year starter on Varsity and contibutor to a Division I State Championship
- Judy received many honors: 2-time 1st Team Metro Conference All-Star team, VT Alhambra All-Star team, USA Today as HS Basketball Honorable Mention, Gatorade VT State Girls Basketball Player of the year in 1987, Converse National High School Girls Basketball Academic All-American 1987
- Played 2 years of softball and 1 year of Track & Field
- Placed 2nd in the State Meet in javelin
- Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Female Athlete of his class
- Named USA Today Vermont Athlete of the Year in 1987
