Project Based Learning and How Form Influences Function

  •

The primary focus of Phase II of the Master Planning and Visioning process pertains to how education is affected by the form of a building. Some of the questions being explored are whether the way spaces are structured currently at the middle and high schools can adequately accommodate the types of project based learning that are already taking place and will continue for the foreseeable future.

The above video is an example of how a community in Lynnwood, Washington transformed their middle school and the postitive impact this had not only on student learning, but on school culture and climate. In addition, the Shelburne Community School underwent a similar process back in 2015. You can watch before and after videos of the process; including the perspectives of both students and staff in the hyperlinks above.
