    2018 ALL AGES TREKs Descriptions

    Interest driven, week long day camps that feature many full-day field trips heavily focused on a central topic, theme, or interest. Children will receive some free time and off-topic recreation but the primary theme of the camp will be consistent throughout the week.  Please register your child for TREKS that your child is truly interested in or passionate about.  The ALL AGES TREKS will feature some split activities and field trips to accommodate kids of all ages.  There will be many opportunities for older kids to act as leaders and mentors.  TREKS run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm but early drop-off and late pick up are included at no extra charge.

     

    6/20/18 – 6/22/2018 Detective Camp (All Ages) $150/$145 sib

    Are you looking to really try out your detective hat? This week we will be using decoding and spy skills to solve crimes. We will be put to the test through a series of courses and different field trips to test our skills! You will learn the basics of crime scene investigation, solve mysteries and learn necessary ninja and self-defense skills.  We will put our skills to the test to go treasure hunting as well as learn GPS and orienteering skills to locate geocaches and other treasures.  We will travel to exotic Vermont locations and use our wits to find hidden caches.  For more information on geocaching check www.geocaching.com.

     

    6/25/18 – 6/29/18 Animal/Nature Adventures (All Ages)

    This week we will look at all different creatures that exist in the state of Vermont. If you like to pet, care for, discover and spend time with critters large and small then join us for this week’s TREK. Each day we will see new critters and explore the world from the animal’s perspective. We will head out with our field guides to discover what inhabits Vermont..

     

    7/2/18 – 7/6/18 (Closed July 4) Survival Camp (All Ages) $185/$175 sib

    Kick start your summer with a week of wilderness skills! We will about survival and resiliency while learning basic survival and wilderness skills.  During this week some of the activities will include; building a shelter, learning the “Leave No Trace Principles”, fire building, orienteering, basic woods survival including some basic animal tracking and much more! The last day of camp we will put all of our skills to the test and camp at our site we have been working on all week! Be prepared to be outside a lot!

     

    7/9/18 – 7/13/18 Grow, Cook, EAT! (All Ages)

    Grow food, harvest food, cook food, and (most importantly) EAT FOOD! Campers will travel to local farms to learn about food production and return with fresh ingredients that will be used to create delicious treats and meals. 

     

    7/16/18 – 7/20/18 Water World (All Ages)

    We all need to cool down in the hot summer, we will be heading to unique water ecosystems to swim and explore. We will “dive” into water habitats, collecting samples to better understand how the inhabitants in the water world survive. This camp will also branch out and spend a bit of time exploring the ocean world and the adaptations of living in such a large body of water. Join us to explore our blue world!

     

    7/23/18 – 7/27/18 Camp Athena (Grades 2 and up)

    Camp Athena is a girl empowerment camp veered towards helping young girls find amazing role models while havingfun! Together we will meet powerful women in our community and learn  about their day to day tasks as well as the importance of their jobs. We will be visiting the UVM hospital, a News station and many more. Join us for a week of wisdom, empowerment, education, and enrichment of the many roles a woman can take on!

     

     

    2018 TRIP TREKs Descriptions

    Location: Pick up at your home or one of the three elementary schools

    Similar to other TREK experiences, but the TRIP TREKS are designed for our oldest kids and feature full day field trips (with little or no at school time).  It’s been a long summer, so why not kick back, relax and enjoy some time with your closest friends enjoying the last of the warmer weeks.  Here’s the best part: We will pick your child up and drop them off RIGHT AT HOME! Pick up will occur between 9:00 and 10:00 am and drop off will occur between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.  We’ll also allow pickup/drop-off at the three elementary schools if your child requires before and/or after care.

     

     

    7/23/18 – 7/27/18 In the Water, On the Water - (Entering 5th grade and above)

    Five days of glorious field trips to some of the most glorious bodies of water in Vermont including Sandbar Beach and Leddy Beach.  Campers will swim, paddleboard, kayak and go tubing down a river!  Part relaxation and socialization and part adventure.  Prepare to get wet!!

     

    7/30/18 – 8/3/18 Peak Week (Entering 5th grade and above)

    Lace up your hiking shoes and prepare to tackle four peaks (and one chasm).  We’ll tackle Mt. Hunger, Sterling Pond, Snake Mountain, Stowe Pinnacle and Ausable Chasm.  Nothing says “Summer in Vermont” like a day hike with good friends!

     

    8/6/18 – 8/10/18 Our Great State Parks (Entering 5th grade and above)

    A perfect mixture of the previous two “TRIP TREKS”:  We’ll hike and swim at five of the BEST state parks in the state: Lake Carmi, Waterbury, Alburgh Dunes, Elmore and Burton Island.

    Let’s make a joyful noise! Get your rock star, conductor, diva hats on! This is a hands on week of singing, playing and making instruments.

     

    6/25/18 – 6/29/18 Animal Adventures (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    Whoo whoo is out there in those hills and woods? Spend a week getting to know more about our animal neighbors. Farms, forests, lakes and homes, We’ll travel to Echo, Shelburne Farms, go on a llama trek visit the Birds of VT museum, plus time to get in the water with our aquatic friends.

     

    7/2/18 – 7/6/18 (Closed July 4) Into The Woods (entering 1st and 2nd grade)$165/$160 sib

    We are headed into the woods to find cozy sites to spend our days hiking, building teepees, fairy houses, forts, nests and enjoying the gifts that nature provides. We’ll help build camper’s skills in First Aid hiking safety and camp craft.  We’ll make the most of this shorter week!

     

    7/9/18 – 7/13/18 Grow, Cook, Eat (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    Emphasis on the EAT here, join in on a week of local food and adventure. Pizza party, garden and restaurant tours, let’s find out how to grow it, cook it and eat it!

     

    7/16/18 – 7/20/18 On the Beach (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    What could be better than a week of relaxing and enjoying our beautiful local beaches? Swim and enjoy the views on both sides of Lake Champlain. Bring your swimming gear and sunglasses and we’ll provide the rest! Rainy days? No worries, indoor beach day or a trip to an indoor pool!

     

    7/23/18 – 7/27/18 Explore Vermont! (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    Join us to do some Vermont investigating. This week includes 5 full day adventures to some special Vermont sites rich in history and geology. Let’s deepen our knowledge and love for our home in the Green Mountains.

     

    7/30/18 – 8/3/18 We like to Move it, Move it! (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    This is not your traditional sports week, we’ll be hiking, swimming, climbing, sailing all over Northern VT. Join us and stretch all your muscles as we spend the week stretching our limits and MOVING IT!

     

    8/6/18 – 8/10/18 All About Art (entering 1st and 2nd grade)

    Calling all artists! This week is about making and enjoying art. We’ll be busy expressing our creative selves, inside and outside. Join us to visit some of Vermont’s art museums, and do some swimming and dipping as well.
